Martha Ann Baker, age 78, of Bolivar, Missouri passed away on Tuesday evening, February 23, 2010 at Citizen’s Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri.

 

She was born April 30, 1931 in Union City, Tennessee.

Martha was a Front End Supervisor for the Kroger Grocery for 25 years retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Bolivar, Missouri. She lived in Nashville before moving to Bolivar, Missouri in 1998.

Calvert

Roy Elliott Calvert, Sr., age 72, died February 28, 2010 at his son’s residence in Hohenwald.

 

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 3, 2010, 2:00 p.m., at Gordonsburg Church of Christ with Tommy Hood officiating. Burial took place in the Gordonsburg Cemetery with McDonald Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Roth
Thursday, February 25th, 2010

 

Services for Freddie William Roth, age 81, were held Sunday, February 21, 2010 in the chapel of McDonald Funeral Home. David Salisbury, minister of Lomax Church of Christ, Maryland Spears and Phil Oliver officiated. Burial took place in the Graves Cemetery in Perry County.

Mr. Roth died February 19, 2010 at Lewis Health Center in Hohenwald. He was born December 12, 1928 in Lewis County to the late Frederick Jacob Roth and Gertrude Wolf Roth.

Wilma Helen Spurgeon, age 80, died February 17, 2010 at her home in Hohenwald.

 

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. February 19, 2010 in the chapel of McDonald Funeral Home. Van Ward, minister of Little Swan Church of Christ, and Glen Floyd, pastor of Freedom Holy Temple, officiated. Burial took place in the Downey Cemetery.

Humphreys
Thursday, February 25th, 2010

 

Services for Douglas David Humphreys, III were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2010 at McDonald Funeral Home. Mike Nolen, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiated. Burial took place in Swiss Cemetery.

 

Mr. Humphreys, 81, died February 18, 2010 at Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida.

Betty Jean (Betsy Jane) Martin Smith died on Monday, February 22, 2010 at ECM Hospital in Florence, Alabama at the age of 79.

Services were held Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel, Collinwood, with Jimmy Turnbow and Chad Balentine officiating.  Eastern Star rites were given.  Burial followed in Memorial Gardens at Collinwood.

John Dixon, age 52, died February 18, 2010 at his home in Hohenwald.

He was born November 12, 1957 in Wyandotte, Michigan to the late William L. Dixon and Jean Martin Tait Dixon.

Mr. Dixon is survived by three brothers, David Dixon of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Jim Dixon of Clemons, Michigan, and William Dixon of Hohenwald.

Bobby Gene Warren died Tuesday, February 16, 2010 in Hohenwald at the age of 49.

Services were held at 3:00 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Home in Waynesboro with Harold Morris officiating. Burial followed in the Highland United Methodist Church Cemetery at Lawrenceburg.

He was born December 23, 1960 in Savannah, the son of the late James Bluford and Annie Belle Staggs Warren.

Mr. Warren was a maintenance worker at Wayne County Boot Camp and City of Clifton. He had served 17 years in the Tennessee Army National Guard achieving the rank of sergeant.

Richard Stanfield Hinson, Jr., age 80, died February 12, 2010 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of  McDonald Funeral Home. Johnny Clayton, minister of Kimmins Church of Christ, officiating. Burial took place in the O’Guin Cemetery.

Buddy Harder, 73, of Linden, died Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Perry Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Young Funeral Home with Aaron Warnick officiating. Interment took place in the Graves Cemetery.

Mr. Harder was born in Lewis County to the late Carlos Harder and Cyrena Hickerson Harder. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from DuPont at New Johnsonville. He was currently a resident of the Perry County Nursing Home.

Audrey Margaret Loveless, 92, passed away February 9, 2010 at Three Rivers Hospital in Waverly.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 12, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home chapel with Richard Tate officiating. Burial will follow in the Swiss Cemetery.

A homemaker, Mrs. Loveless was the wife of the late Springer Loveless. She was born September 12, 1917 in Hohenwald to the late Bert Grinder and Sisley Floyd Grinder.

Sarah Peeler Stricklin, of Wilmington, died Friday, December 25, 2009, in Boca Raton, Florida.

She was born in Hickman County, the daughter of the late Enos D. Peeler and Celia J. Hinson Peeler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Simpson Stricklin.

She attended Lewis County High School in Hohenwald and business college in Nashville. Prior to coming to Wilmington, she and her family resided in Oak Ridge, Huntsville, Alabama, Sidell, Louisana, and San Jose, California.

Gladys Louise Robb Staggs, age 88, of Summertown, passed away Friday, January 8, 2010, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Staggs were conducted Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Neal Funeral Home with Glenn Floyd, pastor of Freedom Holy Temple of Hohenwald, officiating. Interment followed in Summertown Cemetery. Neal Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.

After a year long battle with cancer, Bryon Russell Brown, age 39, died February 5, 2010 at the home of his parents, Bobby R. and Betty Whitehead Brown. He was born February 8, 1970 in Hohenwald.

 

Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. February 7, 2010 in the McDonald Funeral Home chapel with Rod Littrell officiating. Burial took place in the Whitehead Cemetery in Wayne County.

Bobby Gene McCann, 67,  died February 6, 2010 at his home in Hohenwald.

Funeral services were held 1:00 p.m. February 8, 2010 at McDonald Funeral Home with Jerry McDonald, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, officiating. Burial followed in the Swiss Cemetery.

A logger for Tree Frog Logging, Mr. McCann was married to Betty Jean Stout McCann. He was born September 27, 1942 to the late William Bufford McCann and Camilla Stutts McCann.

Funeral services for William Earl Bell were held at 2 p.m. January 31, 2010 in the McDonald Funeral Home chapel with Art McCormack officiating. Burial followed in the Downey Cemetery.

Mr. Bell, age 77, died at his home January 28, 2010. He was married to Ellen June York Bell.

He was born June 18, 1932 in Maury County to the late Hardy Lee Bell and Bessie B. Church Bell.

Maison Briley Coker, one month old son of Jesse Johnathan “John” Coker, Sr. and Jennie Ruth Smith Coker, died Saturday, January 23, 2010 at his residence on Clarke School Road in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Lighthouse Baptist Church  in Columbia with Pastor Dave Baker officiating. Burial followed in Cross Bridges Cemetery. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
