Mrs. Thelma Qualls, age 76, resident of McCord Hollow in Hohenwald, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Qualls will be conducted at a later date. Williams Funeral Home of Columbia is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born, September 15, 1933, Mrs. Qualls  was a native of Lewis County,  the daughter of the late Henry and Lillian Hill Stinson. She was the wife of Calvin Qualls of Hohenwald. She was a homemaker and was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Austin Elijah “Duck” Shaffer, age 2, of Pulaski, passed away Friday, July 23, 2010, at Hillside Hospital in Pulaski. He was born October 21, 2007.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Neal Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Bishop Don Jackson officiating. Interment was held in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Lawrence County.

Matlock

Martha Malissa Matlock, age 103, of Duck River, died July 20, 2010 at Life Care Center of Centerville.

 

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home chapel in Centerville with Bill McDonald officiating. Burial followed in the Tottys Bend Cemetery at Duck River.

Garrison

Jesse Lee “Mike” Garrison, age 58 died Sunday, July 25, 2010 at his home.

 

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 with Glen Floyd, pastor of Freedom Holy Temple, officiating. Burial followed in the Tom Seiber Cemetery.

A Marine veteran, Mr. Garrison was born May 26, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Dois Garrison and Marguerite Marie Osborn Garrison.

Borden

Arthur Murray Borden, 90, of New York and Lennox, Massachusetts, died of natural causes on Friday, July 23, 2010 at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York.

 

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Riverside Memorial Chapel in New York with his daughter, the Reverend Lindsay Borden, officiating.

Mr. Borden was born April 18, 1920 in New York City to the late Rose and Max Borden.

Peter Booth Sommer, age 67, died Monday, July 19, 2010 at his residence in Hohenwald.

He was born April 14, 1943 in Newton, Maine to the late Lawrence and Trudy Burns Sommer.

An Army veteran and self-employed wood worker, Mr. Sommer and his wife, Mary Louise Graves Sommer, were owners and operators of Apple Antiques located on Swan Avenue in Hohenwald.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Jason Sommer of Aberdeen, Washington; one daughter, Audra Sommer of Oregon; three brothers, two sisters, and four grandchildren

Bobby Grinder of Savannah, formerly of Hohenwald, died July 14, 2010 in Savannah.

Services were held on July 17, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Savannah with Don Lee officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.

Born February 8, 1937 in Hohenwald, he was a son of the late Raymond Early Grinder Sr. and Velma Barber Grinder. He was united in marriage August 3, 1957 to Johna Ruth Beatty.

Jerry “Blue” Bentley, 76, of Nashville, died June 18, 2010.

He was married to Betty Faye Seiber Bentley, formerly of Hohenwald.

Funeral service was held at 12 noon at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, in Nashville with Steve Peeler and Kyle Mayfield officiating. Burial was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 210 at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with military honors.

Deborah Kaye Talley Totty, 58, of Centerville, died July 5, 2010.

An Order of Eastern Star service was conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 6 in McDonald Funeral Home chapel in Centerville.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 7 with Bill McDonald and L. C. Loveless officiating. Interment followed in Charles L. Nickell Memorial Park.

Larkin

Marie Larkin, age 88, died July 7, 2010 at NHC Healthcare, Scott in Lawrenceburg.

 

Funeral services were held graveside at 3:00 p.m. July 10, 2010 in the Macedonia Cemetery in Lawrenceburg.

Born June 10, 1922 in Alabama, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas Flippo and Rose Wates Flippo. She was the widow of Charles Harvey Larkin and retired laborer of Genesco.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Frank “Pops”  Wade, age 73, of Summertown, passed away  Sunday, July  4, 2010, at his residence. Funeral services were conducted at Neal Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July  7, 2010, with  Bro. Jason Haygood officiating. Burial followed in Hinestown Cemetery in Lewis County.

A native of Hickman County,  Mr. Wade was born March 16, 1937 to the late Ollie and Sadie Augusta Hensley Wade.  He was a retired auto mechanic and a baptist.

Margaret Eloise Leary, age 78, died June 29, 2010 at her residence in Hohenwald.

 

Graveside services were held Friday, July 2, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Lewis County Memorial Gardens with Bill Webb officiating.

A retired employee of Henry I. Seigel, she was born February 9, 1932 in Lawrence County to the late Clebert Leon McKissack and Enola May McKissack.

Tommie Mitchell Staggs, age 97, died June 25, 2010 at Perry Community Hospital in Linden.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. June 27, 2010 in the McDonald Funeral Home chapel with Chip Spears officiating. Burial took place in the Downey Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Staggs was born June 14, 1913 to the late Wilson Walker Smith and Nannie Jestine Berry Smith. She was a retired secretary for South Central Human Resources.

Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home Chapel. Father Kevin Dowling and Richard Tate will be the officiating clergymen. Burial will take place in the Lewis County Memorial Gardens.

Theodore Floyd “Ted” Gowder, 59, co-owner of Four Star Paving Company and resident of Imperial Drive in Columbia, died Monday, June 28, 2010 at Centennial Medical Center.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Chip Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Memorial Park.

Glenn Landon Woodall, age 73, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, went to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia.

 

Funeral services were held in Lawrenceburg at Neal Funeral Home Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. Brother Charles Gresham and Brother Ricky Webb officiated.  Interment was at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg.

Services for Frances Marion Pulley Morris, of Clifton, were held Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Beech Creek Full Gospel Church with Larry Janes officiating. Burial followed in Worley Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Morris, a native of Lawrence County,  died Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the home of her daughter in Brownsville at the age of 87 years, 5 months, 5 days.

Herman Grady Entrekin, 83, died Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia.

 

Funeral services were held Monday, June 28, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the  McDonald Funeral Home chapel with Artie Collins, minister of Springer Church of Christ, officiating. Burial took place in the Springer Cemetery with military honors.

James Henry Craig, 62, died June 21, 2010 at his residence on Indian Creek Road.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. June 24, 2010 at McDonald Funeral Home. Terry Tenison officiated. Burial took place in the Lewis County Memorial Gardens.

Craig was born June 15, 1948 in Forest, Mississippi to the late Wallace Henry Craig and Ella Maulton Windham Craig. He was employed a a truck driver for Ryder Truck Lines.

Joyce Alma Lussier, a 20 year resident of Hohenwald, died Monday, June 14, 2010 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

A private family service was held Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Covenant Funeral Home in Stafford, Virginia was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lussier, age 63, was born September 4, 1946 in Whitinsville, Massachetts to the late Elziard and Alice Lamontagne.
