Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. February 19, 2010 in the chapel of McDonald Funeral Home. Van Ward, minister of Little Swan Church of Christ, and Glen Floyd, pastor of Freedom Holy Temple, officiated. Burial took place in the Downey Cemetery.
Mrs. Spurgeon was married to the late Claude Ray Spurgeon. She was born February 18, 1930 in Hohenwald to the late Carlos Pope and Rosa Dial Pope.
Survivors include two sons, Ray Eugene Spurgeon of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Lanny Earl Spurgeon of Hohenwald; two daughters, Shirley Spurgeon and Patsy Dash, both of Hohenwald; ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
