    Aug 8, 2024

Rusty Isbell, Commissioner of Elections for the last seven years, says, "anytime a primary is called in a local election, the qualifying deadline HAS to change. This year, the local Democratic Party called for a primary to be held. That changed the qualifying deadline from...

  • Robot Dog Sucks Up Trash With Its Feet

    Laura Davis|Aug 8, 2024

As a former smoker, I always took issue with the complete lack of decency when people would just throw their cigarette butts anywhere but a trash can. On the golf course, it's just as annoying when you're trying to putt and someone decided the green was the right place to leave their butt. I was never one to throw a cigarette butt out of my car window either. In fact, I had a disgusting ashtray/trash can that fit in the cup holder. Yes, it was gross and I'm glad I kicked that habit. Thankfully,...

  • Life as Art:Creating Art with Confidence and Inspiration

    Elissa Tracy|Aug 8, 2024

Creativity, like most things in life, ebbs and flows. It manifests from a medley of ideas, later transformed into reality through paint, pen, instrument, or computer. Most compelling art emerges from a refusal to accept the mundane “as is,” striving instead to reinvent and refresh the everyday. While introspection can kindle inspiration, the true spark often ignites from external sources—be it simple or extravagant. The confidence to create and maintain creativity springs from an inner drive, one typically understood only by the artist thems...

Well it is a nice morning here in our little valley. There is a little breeze blowing and it is really comfortable here in the swing. There is not much noise this morning. I can hear a cow way off in the distance, I guess it is a mamma cow calling for her calf. I can see some of the neighbor's cows out in their pasture, they are enjoying the cool morning and grazing on the green grass. The cats have had their breakfast and they are stretched out here on the cool porch. One of the cats has decided to get up here in the swing next to me and take...

  • Tyrades! Where Were You When Nixon Resigned? "Sock It To Me?"

    Danny Tyree|Aug 8, 2024

That awkward query by presidential candidate Richard Milhous Nixon (on the September 16, 1968 episode of “Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In”) was probably haunting my mind on August 8, 1974. On the afternoon of that fateful day, I tagged along as my flea-marketeer mother purchased antiques from farm couple Gerald and Kate Killingsworth. On the Killingsworths’ TV, the usual game shows and soap operas were interrupted by newscasters speculating about the next move by one Richard M. Nixon, the law-and...
