Recycling efforts have increased across Lewis County including just inside the front door of the Lewis County Court House. Using these bins, employees and others doing business in the building have the option to help reduce the amount of garbage Lewis County taxpayers must pay to have removed each week from the county. Members of the Board of County Commissioners voted Monday evening to use a portion of the Governor's Local Government Support Grant to purchase a set of scales for the Lewis County Transfer Station. The scales would allow employees at the landfill the ability to weigh trash going out to verify billing. Additionally, it would allow for charges for excess trash brought to the landfill.
