Sue Turnbow

On January 3, 2020, the world lost a flamboyant icon of a lady, Margaret Sue (England) Turnbow. She had been telling those who had spoken to her lately that she was ready to leave this world and move on to her next adventure. She passed peacefully in her sleep.

She was born on March 2, 1944, to Mary Anna King and Robert Earl King of Mount Pleasant. She had two brothers, Tommy England and Bobby Joe King. She was active in making life-long friends and sports throughout her school days.

She was always a very decisive lady. Her family believes it started on a hot July night in 1966 when she went out on a blind date. Two weeks later she married Kenneth Ray Turnbow on August 2, 1966. Shortly after she moved to Hohenwald. Not sure she ever forgave Kenneth for that, kidding. Then in November 1967, they had a son, Duke. However that wasn't enough. In November 1969, they had a daughter, Duchess.

Her work career started with her being a receptionist with several different offices and companies, then she was hired at Meriwether Lewis Electric Company in Hohenwald, where she met new people daily and made friends with most. Anyone who had the privilege of meeting her and becoming her friend knew where they stood with her. Whether she liked you or not, she would always tell it like it was, even if the truth hurt. She had more friends than most telemarketers have phone numbers. If anything was happening in the USA, and even sometimes outside the USA, she would know things before most knew they were even going to. Just ask her family.

She was almost an expert cook; she made the best beans, potatoes, and cornbread daily for years, but still would burn them from time to time. However, she was a skilled candy and pie maker. She has a recipe book that may be for sale on eBay to the highest bidder.

She loved to travel and got to see many places throughout the world with her husband and friends. She was always ready for a road trip to Tunica. She would get on the phone and call anyone or everyone until she would find one or several to go. Most casinos knew her on a first name basis. She said she enjoyed going because she was going to increase her family's inheritance. (Never Happened).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Turnbow; parents, Robert Earl and Mary Anna King; and brother, Tommy England.

She is survived by brother, Bobby Joe (Libby) King of Lawrenceburg; son, Duke (Melissa) Turnbow; daughter, Duchess (Larry Wayne) Harper of Hohenwald. She had three grandchildren that she loved more than her two children, Chase Parker, Skye Parker and Tiffany Robnett. Then things really went awry, three great-grandchildren came along and all the love went to them, Kylian Parker, Lejer and Willow Robnett.

She did not want a funeral where people she had rarely saw could come and gawk over her saying how good she looks. She made it very clear to anyone and everyone that she conversed with regularity that she wanted to be cremated and her ashes to be put next to her husband at their grave plot.

The family has decided to have a Celebration of Life for her on Sunday, January 12, 2020, from 2-4 p.m.. at the Blondy Church of God Life Center on Swan Avenue in Hohenwald.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Lewis County Cancer Victims Fund, c/o Citizens Bank, 605 East Main Street, Hohenwald TN, 38462

"We would love to share some of your best memories of Sue, so please write them down or you can share in person at her Celebration," a family member stated.

Adair Funeral and Cremation Services assisted the family with arrangements.
