32nd for Lewis, Hickman, Perry approved as newest Judicial District

 


House Bill 1156, passed in the House by a 84-5 vote on February 20, 2020, established a new judicial district for the counties of Lewis, Hickman and Perry.

Sponsored in the Tennessee Senate by State Senator Dr. Joey Hensley, the creation of the 32nd Judicial District is the first new district in forty years, Senator Dr. Hensley said Tuesday in a telephone interview.

Funding was approved in the amount of approximately $650,000 that will allow for Lewis, Hickman and Perry counties to support a district attorney, public defender, judge and assistants. If approved by Governor Bill Lee, electi...
