Richard Wayne Wix was born in Cookeville on October 30, 1948 to the late Clara Mae Thomas and Earnie Wix. He passed away on March 3, 2020 at the age of 71.

Richard served two tours in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969. From 1970 to 1997, he worked as a welder for Tennessee Army National Guard Combined Support Maintenance Shop (CSMS) in Smyrna. He retired from military service at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was also a member of the Centerville Masonic Lodge.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Bettilynn Wix; and his grandchild, Julian Wix.
