The roof of Darrin's C-Mart was ripped away in the storm. Owner Sonny Patel said Monday the store was able to be open and he was awaiting repair estimates.

A severe thunderstorm system with winds that reached up to 70 mph roared through Hohenwald and middle Tennessee on Sunday, May 3, uprooting trees and taking down power lines.

Lewis County had a total of 475 power outages, Perry had a total of 1500, and Hickman had 2900, MLEC reported on Monday.

Darrin's C-Mart on East Main had extensive damage to its roof. One employee was working at the time, but "no one was hurt. That is the biggest important thing to us," said Sonny Patel, owner of Darrin's C-Mart.

It is unclear at this time how much it will cost to repair.
