Car Accident: Jeremy Cotham

Series: Car Accident | Story 9

Jeremy Cotham of Hohenwald left home to go help a friend in Clifton with a flat tire, but crawled out of his wrecked vehicle on his way home around 5 a.m. Saturday morning, May 16, with only minor injuries. Responders to the Waynesboro Highway scene included Lewis County Sheriff Deputies, Hohenwald Police Officers, Lewis County Fire and Rescue, and Maury Regional Emergency Medical personnel.

Officers found tire tracks that indicated Cotham's Cheverolet Silverado Z-71 pick-up veered off the left roadway edge while travelling toward Hohenwald, drove in the ditch line, then struck a concrete culvert. This impact brought the vehicle back onto the roadway sideways where it began to roll. The pick-up landed upright in the dry creek bed near the county landfill entrance.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Dressler arrived to work the accident and admonished Cotham for not wearing his seat belt. "We could not be having this conversation" if the outcome were different. "You should wear your seat belt." Taylor's Wrecker Service was called to tow the wreckage.
