LCHS graduation to be held Friday
June 11, 2020
Circumstances surrounding this year’s high school graduation in Lewis County, as well as other high schools around the country, are much different than anyone ever expected.
Although delayed due to the global coronavirus pandemic, LCHS graduation will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2020. One hundred of the 105 graduating seniors will be participating in the ceremony.
Each student will receive eight tickets to distribute to family and friends wishing to attend. “If each student uses the eight tickets, it provides enough seating capacity so every person could distance themselves six feet apart. We realize families may sit together and we will not dictate that decision,” Principal Stacey Graves stated. Every other bleacher will be blocked off to abide by social distancing.
Students will be escorted off the football field immediately following the ceremony. Once the students enter the parking lot, they will be released from the care of the LCHS staff.
Students and platform guests will be required to fill out a questionnaire and have a temperature check the night of graduation. Anyone with 100.4 + temperature will be asked to leave.
A senior walk is scheduled to take place tonight, Thursday, June 11, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Students will meet at the Hohenwald Church of Christ parking lot on South Park at 6:15 to line up. The route will begin at the church, turn right on Main Street, turn left on Maple Street, turn left on Linden Avenue and left on Park Avenue, ending back at the church. Students will be presented their banners at the city parking lot.
“The community is invited to come support and encourage the class of 2020, but social distancing is suggested,” Principal Graves concluded.
