"Sobby" Churchwell

Charles "Sobby" Edward Churchwell passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Columbia with his daughter, granddaughter and son-in-law by his side.
He was born in Hohenwald, on April 29, 1937, the son of the late Charlie and Hettie Jane Carroll Churchwell. He resided in Hohenwald his entire life.
Charles married the late Hazel Staggs on October 3, 1959. They were married 51 years at the time of her passing in 2010.
Charles worked at Lewis Products, which later became Dana Corp. and retired after 33 years of service. He loved fishing and was always up for a conversation about it. He was a member of the Pineview Church of Christ.
Survivors include his son, Randy (Renee) Churchwell of Union City; daughter, Lisa (Andy) Pogue of Columbia; a cherished granddaughter, Jennifer (Dallas) Jordan of Union City; and two step great-grandchildren, Zach and Julianna Jordan of Union City. Other survivors include siblings, Mary Ann Churchwell, Birdie Jo Baker, J.W. Churchwell, J.B. Churchwell, and J.L. Churchwell, all of Hohenwald.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by siblings, Lee Churchwell, Frances Churchwell, Martha Churchwell, Annie Ruth Nutt, Ruby Turner, and Doug Churchwell, as well as his step-mother, Hettie Hickerson Churchwell.
Funeral service was held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 1 p.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home Chapel with Andy Pogue officiating. Burial followed in the Springer Cemetery.
McDonald Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
