Cotham announces candidacy for School Board



Derek Cotham announces he is seeking re-election for the position of Lewis County Board of Education School Board member in the 4th district. He has been serving as the board representative in the 4th district since November 2015 after being appointed by the Lewis County Commissioners to fill the unexpired term of his mother, Angela Leigh, and then being elected in August 2016.

Derek was born and raised in Lewis County. He is the son of Michael "Mutt" and Angela Leigh. He is the grandson of the late Leemore and Nancy Cotham. He graduated from Lewis County High School and continued his education at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology and obtained his LPN license. He currently is employed with NHC in Columbia, TN. He is married to Jennifer Cotham and has two children, Caiden Cotham and Enzlee Cotham, who are students in the Lewis County Schools.

In his announcement he stated, "I have enjoyed serving on the Lewis County Board of Education and have seen how important it is that all policies and procedures are followed to have a successful school system. I strive to be the best advocate for the parents and guardians not only in the 4th district but for anyone that has quetions and concerns pertaining to their children's education.
