This is the beginning of summer and the temperatures show that to be true. The days have been in the upper eighties and low nineties and nights have dipped into the fifties a few times and low sixties other nights. The waterways and creeks have been utilized by many as the water, especially in the creeks, is cool to cold most of the time and when you get hot working or just being outside it is refreshing to enjoy. Several in my family were doing just that on Saturday with some kayaking and others just enjoying a picnic and swimming along the creek bank and some fishing, spending most of the day with the aid of a canopy to help keep the sun off of those who did not want to be in it constantly. This is something I used to love, but it seems too much effort to get ready to go and then as much effort to clean everything up afterwards when a nice cool house is available. We did have several showers and thundershowers on Sunday which began early in the morning. It rained on and off most of the morning. It was beginning to get dry so rain was welcome.

Happy birthday to Jolene Averett, Neil Ann McDonald, and G. Y. Bennett, June 29, Girdie Carroll, June 30, Chanda Reeves, July 1, and Shannon Graves, July 2. Wishing for these many more happy days to celebrate life and hope they have a great birthday.

Happy anniversary to Donnie and Mellie Haywood, Jimmy and Fay Johnston and Bill and Donna Owens, June 29, to Ronnie and Jamie Hinson and Dennis and Brenda King, July 2, and Leon and Shirley Reeves, July 3. We wish for these couples many more years to celebrate life together.

We express sympathy to the families of JoAnn Brewer, Terry Donald Johns, Becky Lucille Carroll, Robert Nicholas Chapin, Frankie Lee Tyler Sr, John Howard Beard, Grace Ann Pinkerton, Brad Jerome Pinkerton, James “Jimmy” David Cline, Christopher Lionel Hudson and Timothy “Tim” Leo Schwendimann. Prayers for these families and any others who have lost loved ones we may not know about.

We pray for you to have a happy and healthy week and coming days in your life. Remember those around you who are less fortunate and take time to do for them as you have the opportunity. With the virus still around, many of the nursing homes and rehab centers are still closed to the public and so pray for those in these places as they really miss those who used to visit them at least once in a while.

May God bless you and you family that you have a safe and happy week coming up, especially as we prepare for the upcoming weekend of the fourth of July and all that goes with it. Be sure to take precautions to protect yourself and those around you. It is still dangerous to be out and around where lots of people congregate. Our nations is not out of the woods where the problems have existed and still exist so be sure to protect yourself and those around you.
