C.R. Baker



C.R. Baker, of Hohenwald, passed from this life on to his eternal one on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at the age of 88.

He was born in Gordonsburg on July 22, 1932 to Chancy R. Baker, Sr. "Cap" and Lucille Loveless Baker. He grew up and married the love of his life and his best friend, Peggye Loveless, on November 29, 1958. They lived a wonderful life together until her passing in 2011.

C.R. was a proud and dedicated member of the American Legion in Lewis County. He loved his church family and worshiped with them at the Kimmins Church of Christ for many years. He helped extensively with the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Fund.

If you were around him, you knew his love of Ford, Alabama football, Nascar, and most of all-Cowboy Boots.

He is survived by his children, John (Janie) Baker and Jenny (Kenneth) Carroll; grandsons, Wesley (Amy) Carroll and Stephen Carroll; brother, Tommy Baker; sister, Fada Clay; sisters-in-law, Faye Holt and Polly Edwards; and three great grandchildren, Aleah, Ian and Brooklyn Carroll.

Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Sam, Jack, Charlie, William and Joe Baker; and sister, Martha Baker.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, July 25, at 1 p.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home chapel with John Baker and Johnny Clayton officiating. Burial followed in the Loveless Cemetery.

McDonald Funeral Home, Inc. assisted the famly with arrangements.
