Historical Society donates markers in memory of volunteers

August 20, 2020

Dolene Rogers' family members present were grandson Andrew Rogers with wife, Sarah, and daughter, Anna; great-grandson, Christian Swinea; daughter, Donise Bates; granddaughter, Crystal Swinea; daughter-in-law, Theresa Whitehead; and great-grandson, Will Swinea.

Members of the Lewis County Historical Society assembled at the Wilhelm Telplatz Park on Maple Street at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2020 to unveil pavers engraved to honor the memory of Dolene Rogers and Tommy White. They both were long-time members of the Historical Society, lovers of history and very faithful museum volunteers. For over twenty years, they served in the capacity of treasurer of the Historical Society.

Through the years, as part of her volunteering at the museum, Dolene enjoyed portraying Mrs. Grinder in connection with the Meriwether Lewis story.

Tommy loved to give tours and especially to share the story of Sacagawea who served as guide on the Lewis & Clark Expedition.

In attendance were members of each family.
