The Tennessee Department of Transportation provides a Litter Grant to county governments across Tennessee each year. While Lewis County uses the majority of its funds to hire a Litter Control Specialist to pick up trash along the highways and roads in our community, a portion of that money is also allocated for educational purposes.

Lewis County Litter Grant Supervisor Johnny Clayton recently purchased several copies of the book "Nancy and Sluggo Love Tennessee" to donate to various libraries in the community.

In the book, Nancy and her friends travel across Tennessee while picking up trash and recycling in order to help keep our water, air and land clean.

Lewis County Mayor Jonah Keltner passed out copies of this book at the Lewis County Public Library, as well as the libraries at the Lewis County Elementary and Intermediate Schools.

The book will help educate young children about the importance of keeping our environment clean and beautiful.
