With the hurricane we have had lots of thunderstorms and rain for several days. We are proud of the rain as it was getting dry around the area and the trees were even shedding some of their leaves. The temperatures during the day have been in the upper eighties and low nineties lately and in the seventies at night, which is nice. Tuesday was the first day of September. This year is swiftly passing away and it seems only yesterday it was the beginning of this year.

If you have a daughter or granddaughter or someone else who would like to be a Girl Scout or you, as an adult, would like to help with the Girl Scouts in Lewis County, we are getting this year started. We have programs for girls from kindergarten through twelfth grade and all are welcome. At this time, we have meetings on Monday for fourth and fifth grade girls, on Tuesday for kindergarten through third grade and on Thursday for girls in sixth and up can get set up in a troop. If interested, contact me at 931-796-3880. I would love to set you and your daughter up in a troop. It is really fun to watch the girls as they learn different things about the world around them and do many things that are just plain fun.

The fair is in town. I guess it is expected that it would rain some for it seems that it always does. Hope if you go, you don’t get wet and enjoy your time there.

With the changing looks for the fall season, it offers varied colors and beauty around us. If you can, take time to enjoy the looks of the world around you and to say hello to someone whom you meet along the way. A smile is something that when given, it comes back to you.

Remember those who are shut-in and cannot get out. Take time to visit if you can, send a card or call them to let them know that someone is thinking about them. Hope you have a great week and it is filled with happiness and good health.
