Bike accident on Highway 48

A Lewis County resident on Highway 48 North heard a crash around 5:15 a.m. Saturday, September 19 and called 911.

Dominic ‘DJ’ McGee, 22, of Hohenwald was returning home after a week at work in McEwen and regained consciousness to find himself on the shoulder of the highway near the 15 mile marker north of Cane Creek Road.

Investigating officer Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Dressler said the motorcycle was a 1997 Kawasaki Vulcan 750.

Lewis County Sheriff Deputies Dustin Barber and Dustin Carroll, Lewis County Fire and Rescue, and Maury Regional Emergency Medical also responded.

McGee was transported to the helipad at Lewis Health Center and flown to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville by LifeFlight air ambulance for treatment and observation.
