Several years ago, the Murphy Bridge was replaced over Buffalo River on Napier Road. The new bridge is a little higher than the old bridge. When they built the new bridge they were determined to prevent boaters from launching boats, canoes or kayaks. This had been a favorite launching place for years for out-of-county groups and locals. Steel railings and other barriers were erected, apparently to prevent any boat launching. Steel railings sure don’t prevent flooding or erosion.
