Jeffery Wayne Downey, age 51 of Lafayette, passed away November 7, 2020 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

Mr. Downey was born in Nashville to Carlos and Carolyn (Nutt) Downey on February 9, 1969.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Burton and Zula Downey and Ivan and Georgia Nutt.

Jeffery owned and operated his own trucking business. He loved his family more than anything. He was described as a loving husband and father, a wonderful son, and a very protective brother. Jeffery loved spending time with his grandchildren, taking them for rides on the four-wheelers. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching a baseball game, riding his horses, and just being outside shooting his guns. Though his life was taken far too soon, the memories made will never fade.

Along with his parents, Mr. Downey is survived by his wife, Felicia Joy Batson Downey; children, Chaz (Haley) Downey, Halston (Alex) Downey, Brooklyn Downey, Justin (Wendy) Pinson, and Kelly Gregory; sister, Carla Downey Wallace; grandchildren, Layton Downey, Hudson Downey, Alexander Pinson, Jaxson Pinson, and Abigail Pinson; a niece, Saleen Wallace; and nephews, Daytona Wallace and McLaren Wallace.

A graveside service was held at 12 noon Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Downey Cemetery with Tim Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends at the home of Carlos and Carolyn Downey on Saturday November 14, 2020 beginning at 12:00 p.m.

Adair Funeral and Cremation Services assisted the family with arrangements.
