Mildred Laverne O'Guin was born October 13, 1924, to the late Mamie Hudgins Springer and Iverson Springer. She passed away on November 7, 2020, at the age of 96. She was a member of the Coble Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, Laverne was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years of marriage, A. P. O'Guin; sisters, Ruth Skelton, Rebecca Floyd, and Martha Emma McNabb; brother, Batton Springer; son, Donny O'Guin; and granddaughter, Amanda Gilbert.
