Two traffic checks on different dates ended with drug findings.
On November 19 at approximately 7:48 p.m., Hohenwald Police Officer Clay Colley observed a vehicle traveling west on East Second Avenue in violation of the display of a tag to the rear of the vehicle.
The driver, Ethan Gray, stopped in a parking lot. Following questioning, it was discovered Gray had no license, insurance, and registration.
Gray was asked to exit the vehicle, and forcefully attempted to resist arrest, but Officer Colley managed to control him.
A glass pipe with methamphetamine residue was found in Gray’s pants pocket. Officer Colley then deployed his K-9 partner Celo, which alerted on the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.
Two grams of methamphetamine was found inside a cigarette pack in the console of the vehicle.
Gray was transported to Lewis County Jail.
Officer Colley was assisted at the scene by Sgt. Michael Dunn, Officer Robbie Hooks and Officer Ben Moore.
Another routine stop on November 21 lead Officer Colley to another arrest. After observing a vehicle traveling east on Main Street in the passing lane, Officer Colley made the stop.
The driver in the vehicle was Brandon Wix, who did not have a valid driver’s license. Wix was taken into custody on suspended license.
Officer Colley asked his passenger, Betty Quillen to exit the vehicle. He then deployed K-9 Celo who alerted the officer to the passenger area.
After searching the vehicle and Quillen’s personal belongings, 1.8 grams of methamphetamine, 3.7 grams of marijuana, and a pack of rolling papers were discovered.
Quillen and Wix were transported to the Lewis County Jail.
