Christmas Parade Winners!

December 31, 2020

Don Barber of the South Central Area Fairboard, left, presents members of Hohenwald Seventh Day Adventist Church with a $200 check for winning "Judge's Choice" for their float that included handmade time-period costumes and a live baby donkey.

The Looney Tunes Christmas Parade got rained out on the original event date, Thursday, December 3. Since "Bo" Duke wouldn't be able to come back on the new date, he proceeded to have a "One-Man Parade" on the streets of downtown Hohenwald. Duke planned to run the parade route, but he got distracted by the wet roads, "perfect for spins and donuts," he said. Well, while showing out, the Hohenwald Polic Department caught wind of the rebellious act and headed his way. With police lights in his rearview, Duke scrambled through town avoiding the men in blue at all costs. In the spirit of Christmas, the Chief let the Dukes of Hazzard star off the hook and allowed the one man parade to be enjoyed by community members lining the streets.

The rescheduled parade night turned out to be a beautiful one that was well attended by both participants and spectators. The winners of the 2020 Looney Tunes Christmas Parade are:

CIVIC: Elks Lodge, CIVIC YOUTH: Cub Scout Pack 322, RELIGIOUS: Hohenwald Seventh Day Adventist Church, BEST OVERALL: Elks Lodge, COMMERCIAL: King Tire & Auto, JUDGE'S CHOICE: Hohenwald Seventh Day Adventist Church

The South Central Area Fairboard, organizers of the Christmas Parade, are pleasedwith the turnout and thankful to everyone who had a hand in making this year great. The organization has already started working on plans for next year, including adding categories like, "Most Entertaining."
