A Season of Love

Christmas is the time of the year that the birth of our Lord is focused upon. We read the story of His birth, and contemplate on what it means to us today. We feel His love and know He sent His son for us.

Around this time of the year, you’ll often hear music about Jesus’ birth. Carolers sing and radios play. It’s truly amazing how this music can lift your spirit.

Beautiful lights of all colors hang on trees, houses, shops and any other thing they’ll fit on. Their gentle glow lights up the night with color. The light of the world has come.

Friends and family get together to celebrate and visit. Due to some Covid restrictions, some of this might not be the same, but we can still celebrate at home.

Often delicious treats are made. Some of the ones my family have done are: peppermint bark, festive Christmas cookies, Grandma’s chip bars, and lots of chocolate covered goodies. Hot chocolate with a dash of peppermint or warm orange spice tea tops it off.

God sent His gift to us to show His love and care for us, so usually we give gifts to each other. Whether they be big or small, it shouldn’t matter. What really matters is your heart. Sometimes just being there is a gift in itself.

Last year, my wonderful little town of Hohenwald shot off Christmas fireworks that lit up the sky in a marvelous display. My town really went “all out.” There were even horse-drawn wagon rides and train rides that went through Hohenwald and toured the light shows in the local park. I’m not sure what all they’ll be doing in my town this year, but it was a very enjoyable time for me. It was my first Christmas in Hohenwald.

Always remember to make Jesus first in all of it. Let His love, peace, and joy flood your hearts. Thank Him for sending his Son. Reflect on the seriousness of it and be grateful for His mercy and grace. Show God’s love to each other.
