According to information compiled by the University of Tennessee, Lewis County was one of 92 counties in Tennessee with less than the national average of physicians per person. Lewis County had an average of one physician per 3,935 residents.

Regionally, Lewis County led in the percentage of total population donating pints of blood in any one day. Lewis County exceeded its blood drive quota by 125%; however, residents were reminded that blood supplies become outdated after 21 days.
