Lewis Health Center offers COVID-19 vaccination by appointment

Series: COVID-19 | Story 26

February 11, 2021

COVID-19 vaccination is currently available on a limited basis by appointment at Lewis Health Center (LHC) in Hohenwald for those who qualify under the phases outlined by the Tennessee Department of Health. Vaccination is provided at no charge.

LHC is one of several federally-qualified health centers that were recently named by state officials to assist with administration of vaccines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Two COVID-19 vaccines currently have emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration, one from Pfizer and one manufactured by Moderna. LHC administers the Moderna vaccine, which requires two doses given approximately 28 days apart.

LHC is vaccinating based on a phased approach developed by state health officials, which prioritizes those who meet certain age and risk categories. Currently, those ages 70 or older are eligible to receive the vaccine in Lewis County, along with those who are in phases 1a1 and 1a2. Complete phase information is available at covid19.tn.gov/covid-19-vaccines/vaccine-phases. Phases will be updated as vaccine supplies increase.

To schedule an appointment for a first-dose vaccine at LHC, visit MauryRegional.com/LHCvaccine and select an available time. Those registering must complete a brief form and provide information to verify the phase for which they qualify. Anyone who does not qualify under the current phase and age criteria will not be vaccinated. Appointments are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Additional dates will be added as vaccine supplies are received. Second dose appointments will be scheduled at the time of vaccination. Those needing assistance with the scheduling process may call 931.796.6255.
