Lady Panthers can't handle Lady Wildcats

March 17, 2021

The Lewis County Middle School Lady Panthers hosted the Waynesboro Lady Wildcats on Tuesday, March 9th at Memorial Park.

Kinlee Keltner took the mound to start the game for the Lady Panthers and issued a leadoff walk to the Lady Wildcats. After a groundout, the Lady Wildcats would string together a couple of singles before plating their first run on a groundout and held a 1-0 lead after a half inning. The Lady Panthers would go down in order in the home half of the first. Keltner would work around a leadoff single and retire three straight to hold the Lady Wildcats scoreless in the second. Keltner and Clara Tanner would start the home second with consecutive singles, but the Lady Panthers were kept off the scoreboard in the second and the score remained 1-0 after two complete. Keltner would again work around a two-out single and hold the Lady Wildcats scoreless in the third.

In the fourth the Lady Panthers would get a 2-out single from Makaela Dodson but leave her stranded in the inning and the score remained 1-0 Lady Wildcats after 3. The Lady Wildcats would break open the game in the fourth after a hit batter and consecutive singles loaded the bases. Dodson would prevent a run on a fielder’s choice that cut down a runner at the plate, but a one-out bases loaded walk followed by consecutive singles, a triple, and a double before the inning ended gave the Lady Wildcats a big 8-0 lead. A leadoff single in the fourth by Clara Tanner resulted in nothing as the Lady Panthers went down in order after the hit and trailed 8-0 moving into the 5th. Addison Morgan, who replaced Keltner on the hill to get the final two outs in the fourth, gave up a walk, 3 straight singles, a double, and a triple to plate 4 more runs for the Lady Wildcats before the inning came to an end.

Stailee Moseley led off the home-half of the 5th with a single and moved over on a sacrifice bunt by Tiller before the inning, and game, ended on a double play and the Lady Panthers dropped the home matchup 12-0.

Clara Tanner had 2 hits, Makaela Dodson, Kinlee Keltner, and Stailee Moseley each added a hit. Kinlee Keltner went 3 1/3 innings, allowing 8 runs on 10 hits while walking 2 and striking out 1. Addison Morgan went 1 and 2/3 innings in relief, giving up 4 runs on 5 hits while walking 1.
