Portable generators have become more commonplace as a backup source for power. Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative shares safety tips and the reminder that generators can cause serious injury and even death when used or installed the wrong way.

Never connect generators directly to your home’s wiring. The reverse flow of electricity can electrocute utility workers or others that might come in contact with the power line.
