The Lewis County High School Panthers baseball team hosted the Waverly Tigers on Tuesday, March 23 for a District 11AA matchup.

Maddox Cagle was the starting pitcher for the Panthers and made quick work of the Tigers in the first, sitting down the visitors in order on seven pitches. Slade Moseley reached on a two-out error by the third baseman and quickly stole second and third, and Cagle was hit by a pitch, but the Panther baserunners were left aboard and the score was 0-0 after one complete. Another three up/three down inning by Cagle brought the Panthers to bat in the second. Dyer Barnes drew a one-out walk, Trent Burns would pick up a two-out single followed by a Sloan Moseley hit-by-pitch and singles from Brody Whitlow and Slade Moseley to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead after two complete. A leadoff double in the third would lead to the first run of the game for the Tigers, but Cagle would limit the damage and the Panthers held a 3-1 lead after two and a half. Cagle led off the home third with a double to left-center and Kael Feichtinger would reach on an error by the right fielder. Cagle would be cut down at the plate on a fielder’s choice by Lincoln Brewer, but a double from Barnes and a two-out single from Sloan Moseley would push across 3 more runs and the Panthers would take a 6-1 lead. Cagle would retire the side in order on 5 pitches in the fourth to keep the score 6-1. A leadoff double by Slade Moseley would start the home fourth, and Feichtinger would be hit by a pitch with one out, Brewer would reach on an error by the third baseman followed by singles to Barnes and Levi Thompson and Burns being hit by a pitch, a double by Sloan Moseley and Slade Moseley reaching on an error, a two-out walk to Cagle and Feichtinger again reaching on an error and a single by Lincoln Brewer bringing in a total of 9 for the Panthers to blow the lead up to 15-1. Cagle would pitch a scoreless fifth to take the win in a 15-1 final.

Sloan Moseley had 2 hits, a double, and 2 runs, Slade Moseley 2 hits, a double, and 2 runs, Dyer Barnes 2 hits, a double, and 3 runs, Brody Whitlow a hit, Maddox Cagle a double and a run, Kael Feichtinger 2 runs, Lincoln Brewer a hit and 2 runs, , Levi Thompson a hit and a run, and Trent Burns a hit and 2 runs. Maddox Cagle went 5 innings, allowed 1 run on 2 hits, struck out 1 and walked 1 in the complete game win.
