The Elks Lodge Awards

April 15, 2021

Brandy Bennett was awarded with 'Elk of the Year.'

Each year the Lewis County Elks Lodge is encouraged to recognize several individuals and report to the benevolent order an Elk for their contributions and efforts to better the lodge on behalf of the community as well.

This year Brandy Bennett received the honor of 'Elk of the Year' due to all her work as secretary of the Scholarship Committee, Chairman of the Activities Committee, Grant Coordinator as well as holding an officer position for the lodge.

In addition to 'Elk of the Year,' four other awards are suggested to be awarded and recognized. Dawn Kretzinger was awarded 'Officer of the Year' for all her hard work as an officer and year one seat on board of directors as well as Secretary for Activities Committee and member of House Committee. Dawn worked hard in aiding her fellow elks in preparing for the opening of our lodge as well as assisting other officers in their duties.

'Citizen of the Year' can be awarded to any citizen that shows exemplary commitment to the community by helping in any way possible. This individual does not have to be a member of the lodge, this year that award was received by a well known member of the Elks for all his contributions and help, not just in Lewis County, but truly every area he visits. Chris Trull is well known by many as a gentleman that will help anyone at any time he can.

Two awards were presented to Mr. Dave Saylor and (not pictured) John Goodwin for recognition as outstanding members. Mr Saylor is hands on and ready to jump in to help with anything possible at any time he is not on the road working, and was very deserving of recognition for all his efforts. Mr. John Goodwin was very instrumental in helping to establish the Lewis County Elks Lodge. He also held an officer position and seat on the board of directors for year one. Thanks to his communications and outreach we were able to host a successful 'Trunk or Treat' due to candy he secured for our community's youth.

The lodge also recognized Mr. Joey Hinson with an award of appreciation for his dedication as an officer, holding a seat during year one on the board of directors and as a member of the activities committee. Mr. Hinson also aided greatly with the house committee, although he was not a member he volunteered alongside his fellow elks whenever needed and/or offered useful information and opinions.
