The Lewis County Middle School Lady Panthers softball team hosted the Whitthorne Middle School Lady Tigers on 8th Grade Night at Memorial Park on Thursday, April 15th.

8th Grade Lady Panthers recognized prior to the game were Natalie Bailey, Addison Morgan, and Claire Whitehead.

Addison Morgan took the mound to start the game and after issuing a one-out walk surrendered the first run of the game on a run-scoring double to left and the Lady Tigers took an early 1-0 lead. C.J. Tanner would pick up a one-out single but the Lady Panthers were kept scoreless in the home first. Whitthorne got the leadoff aboard on a hit batter in the second and score a run on a two-out RBI single. The Lady Tigers would pick up one more on a two-out single and take a 3-0 lead. Kabry Adkins would lead off the bottom of the second but the Lady Panthers would see the next three batters retired in order. Morgan would work a scoreless third, striking out the side. Gabii Ortiz would get a leadoff single, and Tanner would add a two-out single, but the Lady Panthers would remain scoreless through three innings. Brailey Carroll would come in in relief of Morgan to start the fourth and retire the Lady Tigers in order, and the Lady Panthers would go down 1-2-3 in the bottom half. A pair of leadoff walks in the fifth and 2 singles would bring in 2 more runs for Whitthorne in the fifth as the Lady Tigers took a 5-0 lead on a one-out single. Ortiz started the bottom of the fifth with a one-out single but was cut down at third. Taya Tiller singled with two down and Makaela Dodson drove a triple to center to plate a run and scored on a single by Tanner and the Lady Panthers trailed 5-2. Carroll worked a perfect sixth and Lewis County would add another run in the bottom half with singles by Carroll and Whitehead to make the score 5-3. Carroll worked another perfect inning in the 7th, giving the Lady Panthers one final at-bat but they were retired in order to end the game, losing by a score of 5-3.

C.J. Tanner had 3 hits and a run in the game, Gabii Ortiz 2 hits, Makaela Dodson a triple, Taya Tiller a hit and a run, Brailey Carroll a hit and a run, Kabry Adkins a hit, and Claire Whitehead a hit.
