Panthers, Eagles match

The Lewis County Lady Panthers and Panthers tennis teams travelled to Summertown for matches with the Summertown Lady Eagles and Eagles on Friday, April 9th.

In girl’s play, Lewis County’s number 1 Ryleigh Ruddle faced off with Summertown’s number 1 Ella Konic and Konic took the match by an 8-0 score. Neveah Walker played as Lewis County’s number 2 and took on Lady Eagle Gracie Kelly and dropped the 8-0 match. Amelia Davis played as Lewis County’s number 3 seed facing Summertown’s Libby Konic, and Konic took the match 8 sets to 1. In the number 4 seed matchup Serenity Warman of Lewis County faced Emma Perry of Summertown and it was Perry that came out on top in a 8-1 match. In the number 5 seed match, Lady Panther Isabel Greve faced Hope Jones of Summertown and Summertown took another match, this time with a score of 8-1. In the final seeded match of girl’s single play Emma Hinson of Lewis County took on Summertown’s Sassy Dotson and Summertown completed the sweep of singles play with an 8-0 win. In doubles play, Ryleigh Ruddle and Amelia Davis took on Ella Konic and Gracie Kelly and the pair from Summertown took the match 8-2. In the second girls doubles match Lewis County’s Nevaeh Walker and Isabel Greve lost a match against Sassy Dotson and Libby Konic.

Lewis County was 0-5 in singles play and 0-2 in doubles play. The Lady Panthers have a 12-14 record in singles and 3-7 record in doubles.

In boy’s play, Panthers’ number 1 seed Bryson Clayburn took on Eagles’ number 1 seed Turner Perry. Perry took the match 8-1.. In the pairing of number 2 seeds, Lewis County’s Braden Powers lost to Summertown’s number 2 Blake Gilliam 8-2. In the matchup between number 3 seeds, it was Malachi Bruce of Lewis County that took a loss to Annakin Johnson of Summertown 8-0. In the number 4 seed match, Lewis County’s Ethan Powers took on Summertown’s Isaac Barker and lost the match 8-1. In the final seeded match, Lewis County number 5 Caden Anderson won by forfeit. In the doubles matchups on the boy’s side, Lewis County’s Bryson Clayburn and Braden Powers paired to face Turner Perry and Anniken Johnson, and the Panthers lost the match 8-0. Panthers Ethan Powers and Malachi Bruce faced Blake Gilliam and Isaac Barker in the second doubles match and dropped the match to the Summertown pair 8-1.

Lewis County was 1-4 in singles play and 0-2 in doubles play. The Panthers are now 14-11 in singles and 6-4 in doubles.
