Panthers play second game against Lions

The Panthers played a second game with the Lions on Tuesday, April 20, at LCHS, and the Panthers were the visiting team for the game.

Jalen Smith started things off for the Panthers with a line drive single to center. With one out, Brayden Whitlow singled to score Smith and Sam Moore singled to score Whitlow. Nate James delivered a one-out double to bring home Moore. Kolt Skelton would single to extend the inning but the Panthers failed to push any more runs across and took an early 3-0 lead.

Jalen Smith started the second game against Frank Hughes and worked around a two-out walk to pitch a scoreless first.

Phenix McDonald led off the second drawing a walk and Braylon Bean walked right after. Following a Lion pitching change, Smith singled to right to score McDonald, and Steele Moseley singled to right tow score two. Whitlow followed with a run-scoring single, and Sam Moore drove home another with a single to left. Moore would come in to score on a groundout by Skelton as the Panthers built a 9-0 lead after one and a half innings. Smith worked around a two-out single to pitch a scoreless second.


Bean led off the third with a sharp single to center and would score on an error on a ball hit by Smith. Smith would then move around and score on an error on a ball hit by Moseley. Whitlow singled ahead of a two-run single by Sam Moore, and back-to-back singles by James and Skelton would bring in a run. With runners on second and third James would score on a Lion error on a ball hit by Cayleb Moore, and a one-out single by Bean would plate Skelton and McDonald would score on a single by Kegan Carroll-Clayton to make it a 17-0 game. The Lions would go down in order in their final at bat as the Panthers won 17-0, run-ruling the Lions for the second time.

Brayden Whitlow had 3 hits, 3 runs, and 2 RBI, Sam Moore 3 hits, 3 runs, and 4 RBI, Nate James 2 hits, a double, 1 run and 1 RBI, Kolt Skelton 2 hits, a run, and 2 RBI, Braylon Bean 2 hits, 2 runs, and an RBI, Jalen Smith 2 hits, 3 runs, and 2 RBI, Steele Moseley a hit, 2 runs, and an RBI, Kegan Carroll-Clayton 1 hit and an RBI, Phenix McDonald 2 runs, and Cayleb Moore an RBI. Jalen Smith 3 innings in the shutout win, giving up a hit, walking 1 and striking out 5.
