Lady Panthers softball

 


vs Santa Fe

The Lewis County High School Lady Panthers softball team hosted the Santa Fe Lady Wildcats at LCHS on Monday, April 19th.

Emily Graves was the starting pitcher for the Lady Panthers, and after getting two quick outs the Lady Wildcats reached base on a fielding error and followed with a single to plate the first run of the game and take a 1-0 lead. The Lady Panthers went down in order in the home half of the first.

The Lady Wildcats went down in order in the top of the second, 2 going down on strikes, but Lewis County would not be able to score in the bottom half and the score remained 1-0 Santa Fe.

A leadoff single and a two-out single would give the Lady Wildcats a 2-0 lead after two and a half innings. With two outs in the home half of the third, the Lady Panthers would get six-straight singles from Bria Willcutt, Emma Tinnon, Keira Halbrooks, Anna Kate Duncan, Emily Graves, and Nylah Halbrooks to plate 4 and take a 4-2 lead.

The Lady Wildcats would again go down in order in the top of the fourth. Zoie Clark would leadoff the home fourth with a single, but Lewis County would not score in the inning and the score was Lewis County 4 Santa Fe 2 after four complete.

The fifth was another three up/three down inning for Santa Fe. Duncan was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the fifth and make her way around to score on an error and extend the lead to three runs.

Using 2 fielding errors and a walk, Santa Fe was able to load the bases but the Lady Panther defense kept them off the board in the sixth. Willcutt reached on a one-out single and was followed by a single by Tinnon to start the home-half of the sixth. With two outs, Duncan drove a run-scoring double to left and Graves followed with a run-scoring double to the left-centerfield gap and the Lady Panthers took an 8-2 lead into the final Santa Fe at bat. Santa Fe would reach base on a two-out walk but the Lady Panthers closed out the win 8-2.

Emma Tinnon had 2 hits and 2 runs scored, Anna Kate Duncan 2 hits, a double, and 3 runs, Bria Willcut had a hit and a run, Keira Halbrooks a hit and a run, Emily Graves 2 hits with a double, Nylah Halbrooks a hit, and Zoie Clark a hit.

vs. Waverly

The Lady Panthers travelled to Waverly to take on the Lady Tigers in a District 11AA matchup on Tuesday, April 20th.

Bria Willcutt led the game off with a single and Emma Tinnon followed reaching on a fielder’s choice. With two-out in the inning Emily Graves singled to right and Nylah Halbrooks drove a double to right-center and the Lady Panthers scored three in the opening inning. Emma Tinnon took the mound for Lewis County and issued walks to the first two Lady Tiger batters. Waverly would work the runners around to score one in the first.

The Lady Panthers would go down in order in the second, and the Lady Tigers would bat around in the bottom half of the inning using 3 walks and 3 singles to plate 5 and take a 6-3 lead.

The third inning saw the Lady Panthers send 3 to bat and 3 set down in order. The Lady Tigers would get a one-out single and a pair of two-out walks to load the bases but failed to score.

Graves led off the fourth reaching on an error and Piper Belvin would pick up a single but the Lady Panthers went scoreless in the inning. 2 errors and a single in the home fourth allowed Waverly to push two more runs across and extend the lead to 8-3.

Willcut led off the fifth with a single but was cut down stealing and the next to Lady Panthers went down for a scoreless fifth. The Lady Tigers started the fifth with three-straight singles and a hit batter and would score 3 more runs in the home fifth to take an 11-3 lead. Graves and Nylah Halbrooks wo

uld each reach on one-out singles but would be left stranded in a scoreless sixth. The Lady Tigers would get a leadoff single but fail to add to their total in the home sixth, and the Lady Panthers would go down in order in their final at bat in the seventh and fall 11-3.

Bria Willcutt had 2 hits and a run scores, Emily Graves 2 hits and a run, Nylah Halbrooks 2 hits with a double, Piper Belvin a single, and Emma Tinnon a run scored.

vs. Camden

The Lady Panthers travelled to Camden on Thursday, April 22nd to take on the Lady Lions in a District 11AA matchup.

The Lady Panthers went down in order to start the game in the top half of the first inning and the Lady Lions went down 1-2-3 in the bottom half and left the game scoreless after one complete with Emily Graves pitching for Lewis County.

Nylah Halbrooks would reach on a two-out double to left-center but the Lady Panthers would come up empty in the second, and Camden would go down in order in the home-half and the score remained 0-0 after two.

Trinley Greene would reach base on a one-out single but be left stranded in the third, and in a similar fashion the Lady Lions would reach on a one-out single and move on a stolen base but leave a runner in scoring position in the third.

Lewis County would go down in order in the fourth, and the Lady Lions would come to bat and break the scoreless tie in the bottom half. A leadoff single, a walk, a fielder’s choice and a fielding error in the first four at-bats of the bottom of the fourth started a rally for Camden, and 2 two-out errors and a single would bring home 5 runs for the home team to take a 5-0 lead. Lewis County would only have one baserunner in their final three at-bats, a single in the sixth by Emma Tinnon, but failed to plate a run.

The Lady Lions would add one run in the fifth after a leadoff error and a single, and cruise to a 6-0 shutout district 11AA win over Lewis County.

Nylah Halbrooks had a double for the Lady Panthers, Trinley Greene a single, and Emma Tinnon a single.

vs. Culleoka

The Lady Panthers travelled to Culleoka for a non-district game with the Lady Blue Devils on Friday, April 23rd.

Bria Willcutt led the game off with a single to center and stole second. After a successful sacrifice bunt by Emma Tinnon, Willcutt would score on a wild pitch and Lewis County would take a 1-0 lead. Emma Tinnon would take the mound for Lewis County and get two quick outs, but a costly error would put the Lady Blue Devils in position to tie the game 1-1 after one. Lewis County would get three-straight doubles to start the second from Emily Graves, Keira Halbrooks, and Anna Kate Duncan and increase the lead to 4-1, and Tinnon would work a perfect home-half to keep Culleoka scoreless in the inning.

Graves started the third with a walk and moved around to score as Keira Halbrooks was hit by a pitch and, with one out, Zoie Clark, Tinley Greene, and Willcutt received free passes. With two down in the inning, Culleoka had a hit batter come around to score on a single followed by a double and the score after three innings was 5-2.In the fourth Piper Belvin would walk with one out and Keira Halbrooks would single with two-down but no runs would cross.

Two one-out singles and an error would bring in another Lady Blue Devil and make the score 5-3. A pair of one-out walks to Greene and Willcutt ahead of a single from Tinnon would start the fifth, and a two-out homerun from Belvin and single from Graves would increase the Lewis County lead to 9-3. Culleoka would be held scoreless in the home fifth. Duncan led off the sixth with a double and Clark was hit by a pitch. Greene and Willcutt followed with singles to plate runs, and Nylah Halbrooks and would single and Graves would double to extend the Lady Panther lead to 15--3. The Lady Blue Devils went down in order in their final at-bat and Lewis County took a 15-3 win on the road.

Bria Willcutt had 2 hits and 3 runs in the win, Emma Tinnon a hit and 2 runs, Nylah Halbrooks a hit and a run, Piper Belvin a homerun and a run scored, Emily Graves 3 hits, 2 doubles, and 2 runs scored, Keira Halbrooks 2 hits, a double, and a run, Anna Kate Duncan 2 doubles and 2 runs, Zoie Clark a run scored, and Trinley Greene a hit and a run scored.

vs. Centerville

The Lady Panthers travelled to Centerville for a District 11AA game against the Hickman County Lady Bulldogs.

The Lady Panthers started the game hot as Bria Willcutt led off with a double and was followed by a single by Emma Tinnon and a single by Nylah Halbrooks. Pipe Belvin slapped a one-out single to left, Emily Graves reached on a fielder’s choice, and Kennedi Potts had a single to right that built an early 3-0 lead for Lewis County. Emma Tinnon then took the mound to start for the Lady Panthers and worked around a leadoff single for a scoreless first with an inning-ending putout at home on the back-half of a double play. Nylah Halbrooks added a two-out single in a scoreless second for the visitors.

The Lady Bulldogs would get a hit and a walk with two down in the bottom of the first but failed to bring a run across the plate. With one out in the third Potts reached on an error by the second baseman and stole second. Anna Kate Duncan delivered a homerun over the left field fence and Lewis County went up 5-0, and Hickman County was held scoreless in the home third.

With two down in the fourth Nylah Halbrooks drew a walk and came around to score when Belvin singled and Lewis County held a 6-0 lead, and the Lady Bulldogs were retired in order and the score was 6-0 after four. Potts led off the fifth reaching on an error and, with one out, Zoie Clark and Trinley Greene each reached on bunt singles. Tinnon connected for a two-out single and the Lady Panthers plated 3 in the inning.

The Lady Bulldogs would get 3 singles in the bottom of the fifth, but the Lewis County defense turned a double play and escaped the inning without giving up a run and led 9-0 after five complete. After a scoreless top of the sixth for Lewis County, the Lady Bulldogs would finally get on the board with a one-out double and a two-out single to plate a run and make the score 9-1. Lewis County would bat around in the final inning when Greene started things off with a one-out single. Willcutt reached on a fielding error and Tinnon singled to center.

Still with one out, Nylah Halbrooks doubled to right-center and both Belvin and Graves delivered singles. With two-out in the top of the seventh Duncan brought a run in with a single and the Lady Panthers built a 15-1 lead. In their final at-bat, the Lady Bulldogs scored one run on a pair of singles and a fielder’s choice to score one, but Lewis County took the win 15-2.

Emma Tinnon had 3 hits and 2 runs scored for the Lady Panthers, Nylah Halbrooks 3 hits, 2 doubles, and 2 runs, Bria Willcutt a double and 2 runs, Piper Belvin 3 singles and 2 runs, Emily Graves a single and a run, Kennedi Potts a single and 2 runs, Anna Kate Duncan 2 hits, a homerun, and a run scored, Zoie Clark a hit and a run, and Trinley Greene 2 hits and 2 runs scored.

vs. Mt. Pleasant

The team travelled to Mt. Pleasant to take on the Lady Tigers in a non-district tilt on Monday, April 26th.

Emma Tinnon started things off for Lewis County with a one-out single and a stolen base and would score with two down on a single by Piper Belvin to give the Lady Panthers a 1-0 lead. Emily Graves drew the start pitching for Lewis County and blanked the Lady Tigers in order to end the first. Anna Kate Duncan had a one-out single in the second and Zoi Clark would reach on an error and Lewis County would plate a run in the inning. 2 errors and 2 singles by the Lady Tigers would score one and make the score 2-1 after two complete innings of play. Belvin would drive a two-out double and score on a single by Graves to make it a 3-1 game.

A one-out single and a 3-error would bring in 2 for Mt. Pleasant in the home third to tie the score at 3. Lewis County would be held scoreless in the visitor fourth, and Mt. Pleasant would take a lead in the bottom half behind a 2-out error and a single and held a 4-3 lead. Tinnon led off the fifth with a single and an error and would come across to score on a Nylah Halbrooks double to tie the game at 4. The Lady Panthers would work around a one-out single to keep the game tied after five innings. Duncan reached in the sixth on a one-out single to left but was left stranded at second, and the Lady Tigers were set down in order in their half of the sixth. Tinnon gave the Lady Panthers the lead in their final at bat with an inside-the-park homerun to make it a 5-4 game, and the Lady Tigers would not capitalize on a leadoff double in their last at-bat and Lewis County took a 5-4 victory.

Emma Tinnon had 3 hits, a homerun, and 3 runs scored, Nylah Halbrooks had a double, Piper Belvin 2 hits, a double, and a run, Emily Graves a single, and Anna Kate Duncan 2 hits and a run.
