Old MacDonald Storybook Walk this Friday

Calling all farmhands! Throw on your overalls and experience a storybook brought to life when Lewis County Public Library and Archives, along with some trusty farm friends, presents an "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" storybook walk on Friday, June 4th at Memorial Park from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

A storybook walk is an outdoor reading and walking experience where children step into the pages of a book placed in different areas along the walking path. At each stop, families can interact with the story by meeting Old MacDonald and other costumed characters, seeing live animals, playing games, and other activities designed to keep children engaged.

This event is being held as part of the library's "Tails and Tales: Animal Adventures in Hohenwald" Summer Reading Program. A number of community groups, organizations, and volunteers have partnered with the library to provide this outdoor family adventure, including UT Extension-Lewis County, the City of Hohenwald, Harris Farm, the High Forest Humane Society, the Hohenwald Pilot Club, Hope Hohenwald, R & R Farms, and Scot and Suzanne Dryer.

The 2021 Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the City of Hohenwald. Support materials are provided by the Tennessee State Library and Archives. Additional funding has been made possible through a Dollar General Literacy Foundation Summer Reading grant.
