A long drought was partially broken in Lewis County when showers fell in Hohenwald on May 31 and June 3.

Thomas Quillen enlisted in the U. S. Army.

James Simmons graduated from Army basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

Pauline Brown was named a Five Star General (Employee of the Month) at the Hohenwald General Shoe Plant for the month of June.

Funeral services were held for Jim Creamer, 89.
