Peggy Joyce McNabb

Peggy Joyce McNabb

May 17, 1950 - June 16, 2021

Peggy Joyce McNabb was born in Hampshire on May 17, 1950, and was the daughter of the late Clarence and Allie McNabb. She moved on to her heavenly home on June 16, 2021.

She married the love of her life, Wayne McNabb, on April 8, 1966, with whom she had six children. Peggy spent many years helping others by working as a CNA, helping others obtain a GED, or volunteering at various places. When she was not spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren, Peggy could be found at local thrift stores or yard sales; she never passed up a good deal. In the mornings, one could almost always see her at the Small Town Diner in Mt. Pleasant having her daily tenderloin and biscuit. Peggy was very opinionated and strong-willed but was always willing to help anyone in need.

She is survived by her five daughters, Tammy (Glenn) Cates of Hampshire, Pamela (Clyde) Vaughn, Carrie (Damon) Lentini, Stephanie (Jerry) Osborne, and Candice (Randy) Howell, all of Summertown; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann (Grover) Chapman; Stella Runions, both of Mt. Pleasant; brothers, Joe (Mary) McNabb of Hampshire, and Freddie (Maggie) McNabb of Hohenwald; sisters-in-law, Donna McNabb of Hampshire and Cathy McNabb of Mt. Pleasant; several nieces, nephews, and "adopted" children.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Wayne McNabb; her infant son, Robert Dwayne McNabb; siblings, Billy, Ruthie, Elmer, Thomas, and Carl "Shorty" McNabb; grandson, Cody Howell; son-in-law, James Martin; and brother-in-law, Ray Runions.

A celebration of Peggy's life was held at Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia on Saturday, June 19 with Rick Points officiating. She was laid to rest in Pisgah Cemetery. Pallbearers included her grandsons, nephews, and close family friends. The family welcomed everyone to visit with them on Friday, June 18 to share memories and stories of the life of this spunky woman at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
