Lewis County's Intermediate/Advanced Trap Squad has proved themselves a force to be reckoned with as they took home the silver medal at this year's SCTP State Championship on June 25, 2021.

The squad consisted of teenagers Trasey Lindsey, Ryan Tanner, Mahaley Bean, Emery Norris and Clay Bean who won first place at the Regionals competition just two weeks earlier. The team scored 453 out of a possible 500 which earned them second place after Zion Christian Academy who had a narrow victory of 461 targets hit.

Tanner shot 94 targets out of one hundred, Clay Bean shot 93, Norris shot 91, Lindsey shot 90 and Mahaley Bean shot 85, all scores of strong competitors.

Although there was only one group who had enough shooters to form a squad, the group shot exceptionally well individually.

Zoie Clark, daughter of coaches Adam and Maranda Clark, placed first in not one, but three competitions; and placed second in two more. Clark managed to shoot 98 clay targets out of one hundred in the Trap competition, 83 in Doubles Trap and 84 in Extended Yard-Line Trap, earning first place in all three ladies Senior/Jr. Varsity divisions. She placed second by shooting 89 targets in Skeet and 80 in Sporting Clays.

Her brother, Spencer Clark, also shot well in the men's Intermediate/Entry Level division. He earned the silver medal for shooting 78 targets out of one hundred in Doubles Trap, placed sixth by shooting 80 targets in Extended Yard-Line Trap, shot 68 in Sporting Clays, 66 in Skeet and 88 in Trap.

Norris placed second in the ladies' Intermediate/Advanced division of Extended Yard-Line Trap with 85 out of one hundred, placed third in Doubles Trap with a score of 73, placed fourth with a score of 91 in Trap and ninth by shooting 55 in Sporting Clays.

Lindsey placed fifth in men's Intermediate/Advanced Extended Yard-line Trap by shooting 82 clays, placing he and Norris Third as a team in their division with a combined score of 167. He shot 90 targets in Trap, 75 in Sporting Clays, 72 in Skeet, and 68 in Doubles Trap.

Tanner placed ninth in men's Intermediate/Advanced Trap with a score of 94 and shot 64 targets in Sporting Clays, placing him in 46th place among 78 other competitors.

Lewis County had six more sharp shooters who traveled up to the Nashville Gun Club and competed in their respective Trap divisions. Michael Lyons shot 49 and Gabriel Shook shot 41 in the men's Rookie division. Breslin Baxter shot 58 in the men's Intermediate/Entry Level division. Xavier Shook shot 56 in the men's Intermediate/Advanced division. Jasmine Whitwell shot 73 in the ladies Senior/Jr. Varsity division. Chase Carroll shot 94 in the men's Senior Varsity division.
