TCAT to open Power Sports Technology

TCAT Hohenwald will be opening a new Power Sports Technology Program in the Fall of 2021.

The Power Sports Technology Program will be aimed to meet the growing need of servicing and repair of all types of power sports vehicles, such as marine, motorcycle, atv and utv in the power sports arena. The program will prepare a student with an understanding of the methods of servicing and repair of power sports equipment. The addition of the Power Sports Technology will be one of the programs in the expansion of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Hohenwald.

The skilled student would be able to gain an entry position into the viral repair and service aspect of the Power Sport industry. The program would provide technical instruction and skill development for the student to become knowledgeable as a technician. This course is to provide trainees with a thorough understanding of the methods of servicing and repairing outdoor power equipment. Training would also include learning to make a proper diagnosis of power sports equipment using test equipment, hand tools, special equipment, precision measuring tools, service manuals, and specifications. The classroom and shop area are designed similarly to an actual working environment and conditions in the industry. A student will learn the skills and knowledge to evaluate the repair and servicing of various power sports vehicles and equipment.

The program will be one year in length or three trimesters or 1296 clock hours. There are two certificates with the completion of the units of study in the first and second trimester and a final diploma with the completion of the one year program. TCAT President Kelli Kea-Carroll commented, "We are delighted to add another technical program to our program offerings and look forward to enrollment to fill another identified industry need."

The application process will be all online via the TCAT Website. For enrollment, please visit tcathohenwald.edu to access the application.
