Anonymous benefactor makes large donation to Library Expansion Project

Last week, with staff members shelving and sorting books away from the checkout counter, the sound of the outside book drop door opening and closing did not draw much attention. Within a few minutes, a quick check of the drop box revealed a small, inconspicuous envelope with the word "Donation" handwritten on the front. Bringing the envelope into Library Director Crystal Nash's office, the excitement began to build as the staff gathered to see the contents. Inside the envelope was a sheet of paper with another handwritten message: "For Library Expansion – Anonymous." Anxiously, Director Nash and her staff unfolded the paper to reveal a cash donation of $3,000 in thirty, crisp, one hundred dollar bills! After expressing many joyful thanks and a few tears, Friends of the Library was contacted to arrange the safe deposit of this generous donation into the library's building fund account.

"We certainly did not expect such a gracious gift to be donated and only wish we knew who to thank and give them a big hug!" stated Library Director Crystal Nash. "The circumstances surrounding this wonderful contribution is like something you would read in a book or see in a movie, and it proves that there are others in the community who understand and support our plan to renovate and add to our library."

The Library Board of Trustees, Friends of the Library, and library staff wish to express their gratitude to the generous and unknown benefactor for their thoughtful gift towards the "Building for the Future - Preserving the Past" expansion project. Maybe Santa has already heard our wish?
