One Day at a Time

Series: One day at a time | Story 16

August 19, 2021

Well it is a nice morning here in our little valley. We didn’t get a heavy rain but there is a little water flowing in the creek; I walked down there early this morning to look at the creek. I saw a small deer getting a drink, I guess its mama was close by. There is a nice breeze blowing across the front porch and I am enjoying my time here in the swing. It has been a busy summer, my neighbor brought over some peppers and tomatoes again so I made some salsa this time. Sure is good with pinto beans and good brown cornbread and a glass of good sweet tea. Are you hungry yet Miss Callie Dunn?

Well the washing machine just stopped, my clothes have finished washing. I will get them out and hang them out on the clothes line. I love hanging them outside. I was hanging them out the other day and looked across the yard, our neighbor’s cows were in the pasture, I saw a mama and her baby calf. The baby calf was running and playing, and the mama was watching her very closely. I thought to myself, now I could have put these clothes in the dryer and gotten through quicker but look what I would have missed. Isn’t God good? There are still a lot of bad things going on, seems the covid is trying to come back stronger, but we will have to pray harder. I was in the grocery store checking out and this man was checking out also. He asked me, “Why are you still wearing a mask?” He had a little boy with him and I said for his and your protection as well as mine.

I am looking forward to fall but I am wondering what this winter will be like. Soon we will be getting our wood pile ready for the winter. I like to be prepared a little bit ahead of time so if it is a bad one, we will be okay. I am not worried about tomorrow but I do think about the old story of the grasshopper and the ant.

When I was walking down by the creek, I saw that the trees are so loaded with acorns that their limbs were hanging low and most people’s gardens have done very well. Seems this year I’ve heard about how more people have been canning. I know our canned food sure is better than store bought, at least it seems that way to me.

Well I have enjoyed this porch swing, but I have to get busy and get the clothes hung out on the line. I wonder what He will show me today. I am not going to worry about tomorrow, I am going to take it one day at a time. God has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

God Bless.
