South Central Area Fair kicks off Saturday

South Central Area Fair is scheduled to kick off Saturday, August 28 with Family Night, sponsored by Adair Funeral & Cremation Services. Gates will open at 1:00 p.m. The event will feature bounce houses, food trucks, horseshoe and cornhole tournaments. Sign up for tournaments by 2:30 p.m. A Kids Power Wheels Derby will begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by a Kids Money Drop at 5:30 p.m. and Kids Power Wheels Drag Race at 6:00 p.m. Live music will begin at 7:00 p.m., along with open karaoke.

The Fairest of the Fair Beauty Pageants for ages 0-150 will have contestants competing for trophies, crowns, a sash and cash money on Sunday, August 29. The pageant begins at 1 p.m. at the Lewis County Middle School.

The fair, once again, is pay one price, $15, and ride all rides.

The University of Tennessee Extension's 4-H Bark in the Park Dog Show will be August 31 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Those wanting to enter exhibits in the Old Timey Roots Exhibit should bring their items to the High Forest Room Monday, August 31 from 4:00-7:00.

Wednesday, September 1 and Thursday, September 2 will feature the Junk Car Jump 'N Run. Drivers will compete for trophies and $10,000 in cash prizes in the nail-biting entertainment side-by-side obstacle course race.

The fair would not be complete without the famous Demolition Derby - with not one, not two but three derbies, on Friday, September 3 and Saturday, September 4. "Enjoy the longest running derby in the southeast area where competitors destroy each other to win over $15,000 in prizes," a member of the South Central Area Fair Board stated.
