Dexter Hargrave, 73, of Hohenwald passed away at Maury Regional Medical Center on August 17, 2021. Mr. Hargrave was born in Lewis County at the Boyce Clinic to the late Roy Patton and Doris Melvie Grimes Hargrave on October 31, 1947.

Many seemed intimidated by Dexter, but once you were able to meet him and get to know him, he would do anything for you. He has been described as a gentle giant who would give you the shirt off his back. In his spare time, he enjoyed hopping on his Harley Davidson and hitting the road with friends.

Mr. Hargrave is survived by his wife, Carolyn Carroll Hargrave; stepson, James T. Gross; his sister, Margaret Staggs; his niece, Natasha Hensley, and nephew, Stephen Hensley (Dalanna); and great-nephew, Paxton.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, V.C, and Hattie Grimes, Coffman and Evie Hargrave, Rebecca Mae Garrett, and step-grandfather, William White.

There are currently no services planned. Adair Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
