TCAT Hohenwald honored graduates with commencement exercises

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Hohenwald held Commencement Exercises at First Baptist Church on Friday, August 20, 2021. The college held two services with the morning service including graduates of three Practical Nursing Programs from the Main Campus, Maury County Instructional Service Center and Wayne County Instructional Service Center. The afternoon service honored the graduates of all other campus-wide technical programs. The graduation culminated the year-long to eighteen-month study of many of the technical students. Dr. Kelli Kea-Carroll, President and Dr. Randy Young, Vice President, presided over the services, along with Practical Nursing Coordinator, Sally Mercer.

Most often, the Tennessee College invites the public to attend the commencement ceremonies, however, with COVID, the graduates were limited to a four-person guest list. Graduation day has always been an exciting and rewarding experience as the graduates realize their true accomplishments.

At the Morning Tennessee College Commencement Exercises, there were three Valedictorians who addressed the Practical Nursing Graduates. The three Valedictorians were Jessica Dressler, Amy Coughlin and Mickay Qualls. To begin, graduating from Practical Nursing – Evening Class with Ms. Karen Gilley, instructor, were Brianna Lynn Beckham, Roxanne Rose-Marie Carter, Jessica Nicole Dickerson, Jessica Dawn Dressler, Holly Denine Garner, Mandolyn Candis McNabb, Chelsea Rebecca Patterson, Amber Nicole Tobey, Emily Danae Warrington and Jennifer Shae Werfel.

From Practical Nursing - Maury County, under the instruction of Ms. Kendra Richardson, the following students graduated with the Practical Nursing Diploma: Amy Jo Coughlin, Leonnah Rae Davis, Lauren Faith Kelly, Bethany Ann McGuire, Maranda Frances McKenney, Emily Ann Melheim, Amanda Renee Melton and Phoebe Allison Turner.

From Practical Nursing Wayne County, under the direction of Ms. Lisa Hunt, the following graduates were honored in receiving their diplomas: Christian Allen Aguirre, Kandice Brooke Flippo, Amy Jo Hinkey, Carol Jean Hodum, Hayden Elizabeth Lee, Chesney Markelle Lowery, Mickay Vaschelle Qualls, Amanda Betty Simbeck and Cassondra Lynn White.

For the afternoon Commencement Exercise, Aaron Brewer served as the Student Speaker and spoke on behalf of the student body. Graduating from Administrative Office Technology with Ms. Alaina Long, instructor, were students: Kim Bowers, Polly Floyd, Molly Gray – Medical Administrative Assistant and Erika Tomlin – Accounting Assistant. From Aesthetics – Stephanie Stanfill and Sheila Stima: Kaitlyn Baker, Hannah Cunningham, Dearea Flippin, Rylee Ring, and Kristen Smith with Esthetician Diploma. From Automotive, Justin Osborne and Earl Hamilton, Instructors – Howie Mengel, Marcus, Natschke and Brenton K. Secrest – Automotive Technician Diploma. From Computer Aided Drafting – Ms. Christian Hammonds – Cory Field – Drafting and CAD Technician. From Cosmetology with Brittany Staggs and Barbara Korp – Ashlyn Goff, Caroline Langford, Amanda Malone, Heaven Moore, Haily Oretega and Emma Smith graduating with Cosmetology Diploma. From Digital Graphic Design Technology – Christina Hammond – Ivy Bostick with Digital Illustrator. From Electro-Mechanical with Shirley-Brown-Harrison – Aaron Brewer and Brandon Mason graduating with Electro-Mechanical Technician Diploma. From Emergency Medical Technology with Devin Dickey – Bobbie Barrows, Gary Boucher, Thomas Duke and Elizabeth Grizzle graduating the first TCAT Hohenwald Class of EMT with Basic EMT. From industrial Maintenance – Jeff Tatum – Miles Baker honored with Industrial Maintenance Technician Diploma. Also from Machine Tool Tecchnology with Instructor Kevin Hinson – Cannon McDaniel earned a Machinist Diploma. From Manicuring with Brittany Staggs and Barbara Korp – Amber Head was awarded Manicurist Certificate. From Patient Care Technology with Clint Natschke, instructor included graduates Johanna Potts and Didre Williams earning Medical Assistant. Telecommunication with instructor, Shirley Brown-Harrison included graduate Ashton Williams earning Telecommunications Electronics Technician. Weldling Technology with Jeff Tatum graduated Triston Bates, Dilian Burnsed, Caleb Carroll, Calvin Fiegel, Eithan Hamblin, Forest Noack-Carroll, Eric Norwood, Jamison Stinson and Trevon Yarbro, all with Combination Welder.

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Hohenwald would like to congratulate all of the 2021 graduates. On behalf of the faculty and staff we wish all of the graduates a bright and successful future. A special thanks to all the faculty and staff, especially Ms. Melanie Hines, who coordinated the effort and to the Administrative Office and Patient Care Technology students who assisted.
