Karen Carlton

September 28, 1960 ~ August 29, 2021

Karen Renee Marshall Carlton, 60, was born in Houston, Texas on September 28, 1960 and departed this earthly world on August 29, 2021 at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville.

It was often said that Karen was put on this earth to serve others and there could not be a truer statement; she had a servant's heart. She genuinely cared about everyone that had the honor to know her and had a passion for helping anyone and everyone with no questions asked. She loved with her whole heart. She was a determined and talented individual that could conquer any task no matter how big or small it was.

Karen will most be remembered for the amount of love she had for everyone, her contagious laughter and huge personality that could lift anyone's spirits. Her family and the memories they made in this life meant everything to her and there was no escape from her bigger than life hugs. The simple things of nature brought her so much joy such as spending time in her garden, watching the influx of the hummingbirds in the spring or just spending time in nature along the Natchez Trace. She had a deep love for animals, especially her own fur-babies. Those she knew and loved were so blessed by her in this life, she will be immensely missed.

Karen is survived by her father, Jack Marshall and step-mother, Rose; her husband, Yancey Chee Carlton; daughters, Katherine Renee Bunch (Joel), Kristina Michelle Khan (Ibrahim), and Melissa Ann Stutts (Dustin); grandchildren, Kyle and Zack Bunch, Aamir, Zayn and Zara Khan, and Eden Marie Stutts. She is also survived by her siblings, Rick, Jackie, Lydia, Jerry, Goldie, Bobby and Mark; brother and sister-in-law David and Wenona Stark; and special friends, Janet Cook, Carol Barnes, Sylvia McCann and Vickie Neal.

Karen was preceded in death by her mother, June Carol Wilroy, and sister, Roxanna Marshall.

A celebration of life service began at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 3 in the chapel of Adair Funeral and Cremation Services following a visitation. Her father, Pastor Jack Marshall, officiated at the service.

Adair Funeral and Cremation Services assisted the family with arrangements.
