LCMS Football at Scotts Hill

The Lewis County Middle School Panthers football team travelled to Scotts Hill on Thursday, September 2, 2021 for a matchup with the Scotts Hill Lions.

The Panther offense got on-track early in the game when, only :22 seconds into the opening quarter, Micah Godfrey broke free on a 33-yard touchdown run. Kolt Skelton added the two-point conversion run and the Panthers led 8-0 early. Moments later, it was Godfrey again showcasing his speed, this time taking a 45-yard run to the endzone for the score. Reggie Wade added the conversion run and Lewis County led 16-0. The Panthers would add more to the total in the opening quarter when Drew Ray powered his way on a 31-yard touchdown run. D.J. Stewart added the conversion run and the Panthers held a 24-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Less than two minutes into the second quarter Kobe Feichtinger scored on a 2-yard run and Jalen Smith added the conversion run to make it a 32-0 game. The Panthers would add one more score to the total before halftime when D.J. Stewart would score on a one-yard dive into the endzone, and Godfrey would add the conversion run to make the score 40-0. With the clock running the entire second half due to the mercy rule, neither team would add to their totals and the Panthers would cruise to a 40-0 win.

Drew Ray had 5 carries for 90 yards and a touchdown, Micah Godfrey 2 carries for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns, D.J. Stewart 3 carries for 54 yards and a touchdown, Gavin Coker 5 carries for 29 yards, Anthony Garcia 1 carry for 6 yards, and Kobe Feichtinger 2 carries for 2 yards and a touchdown. Kolt Skelton completed his only pass attempt for 18 yards, and Kade Carroll had one reception for 18 yards.

The Panther defense was dominant, holding the Lions to only 11 yards of total offense while forcing 4 turnovers. Jalen Smith had 5 tackles, Braylon Bean 3 tackles, Garrett Reeves and Reggie Wade 2 tackles each, Kobe Feichtinger a tackle and a fumble recovery, Kegan Carroll-Clayton a tackle and a fumble recovery, Kade Carroll a tackle and a fumble recovery, J.D. Wood, Brodie Unger, Kevin Lopez, Hunter King, and Carson Wade 1 tackle each, and D.J. Steward an interception.
