The Lewis County High School Panthers football team hosted the Hickman County Bulldogs on Saturday night, September 18th, at Bobby W. Sharp Stadium. The game was scheduled for Friday night, September 17th, but due to the inclement weather and lightning in the area the game was moved to Saturday. This was the 100th contest between the two rivals and the newest installment of the Battle for the Brown Jug.

The conditions of the field at Bobby W. Sharp Stadium were wet due to the hours of rain that fell in Lewis County which was the reason the game was moved to Saturday. The Panthers and Bulldogs, locking up for the 100th time in the bitter rivalry, played a scoreless first quarter, but the Panther offense was on the move at the end of the first.

Only six seconds had expired in the second quarter before Blake Carroll got into the endzone on an 11-yard run, and he added the point after to make the score 7-0 Lewis County.

Just over two minutes later it was Carroll again, this time making a catch in traffic on a pass from Brycen McDonald and fighting his way to the endzone for a 45-yard touchdown. But the PAT fell off-target and the Panthers led 13-0.

Bryson McDonald would hook up with Blake Carroll again for a 35-yard touchdown pass, and Carroll would spring free on a 58-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Lincoln Brewer would add a conversion run and Carroll a PAT to make it 28-0 Panthers.

Late in the second quarter the Panther scoring barrage would put more points on the board in the first half as Brycen McDonald would find Maddox Kellogg in the corner of the endzone for a 23-yard touchdown pass. The Dyer Barnes PAT would fall no good as the Panthers built a 34-0 halftime lead over the Bulldogs.

The lone scoring play of the second half would be when Ayden Dunn would break away on a 33-yard touchdown run. A Maddox Kellogg pass for the conversion would be incomplete, and the Panthers would lead 40-0, a lead that would stand to the end of regulation.

The Panther win brought their season record to 4-1, and the Panthers kept control of the Brown Jug.

The Panther offense piled on 457 yards of total offense against the Bulldogs on the wet surface. Blake Carroll rushed for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground, Lincoln Brewer 5 carries for 50 yards, Ayden Dunn 2 carries for 35 yards and a touchdown, Kael Feichtinger 6 carries for 28 yards, Chaz Sparkman 2 carries for 24 yards, Ethan Ray 1 carry for 18 yards, Brady Johns 6 carries for 13 yards, Kai Bosque 3 carries for 5 yards, Malachi Bruce 3 carries for 3 yards, and Bryson McDonald 3 carries for 1 yard. Bryson McDonald was 8 for 9 passing for 168 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Malachi Bruce was 0 for 1 passing. Blake Carroll had 4 receptions for 104 yards and 2 touchdowns, Lincoln Brewer had 2 receptions for 10 yards, Maddox Kellogg 1 reception for 23 yards and a touchdown, and Dyer Barnes 1 reception for 31 yards.
