The Lewis County High School Lady Panthers volleyball team travelled to Linden to take on the Perry County Lady Vikings in varsity and junior varsity matches on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.

In the varsity match, the Lady Panthers set the tone for the first set early and played a strong opening set. Lewis County was able to capture the lead and ride point streaks to take the first set of the match by a score of 25-19. The second set of the match was a competitive set as both teams again went back and forth, but the Lady Panthers were again able to take the lead and take down the Lady Vikings in the second set by the score of 25-18. The third and, as it played out, final set of the varsity match the Lady Panthers continued to control momentum. The Lady Vikings tried to keep the set and force extra sets, but Lewis County fended off the hosts and took the final set 25-19 and won the varsity match 3-0. Cabry Hill had 11 hits, 5 aces, 3 kills, and 2 digs in the match, Mya Siever had 11 hits and an ace, Madasyn Durham 8 hits, 5 aces, and 5 digs, Serenity Warman 8 hits and 2 kills, Aly STutts 8 kills and 2 hits, Isabel Greve 4 hits, 4 aces, and a dig, and Reese Duncan 1 hit and 1 dig.

The Lady Panther junior varsity took the floor prior to the varsity matchup, and the Lady Panther JV came out strong in a very close opening set. The teams exchanged leads throughout the first set of JV play and played into extra points before Lewis County took the opening set win 27-25. The Lady Viking JV rebounded after the break and pulled out to a lead on their way to a second set win 25-15. The tie breaking third set was similar to the opening se t as the teams swapped leads multiple times and the set went into extra points for the Lady Vikings to take a 16-14 set win and win the JV match 2-1. Kerrigan Reeves had 7 hits and 2 aces, Presly Hill had 5 aces and 4 hits, Kailee Thomas had 5 hits and a dig, Jayden Moore had 3 hits and 3 aces, Chloe Stewart had 2 hits, Allee Ray Carroll had a hit and a dig, Maddie Crowell had an ace, and Shay Kilpatrick had 1 hit.

LC vs. Loretto

The Lewis County High School Lady Panthers volleyball team travelled to Loretto for a varsity match against the Lady Mustangs on Thursday, September 23rd.

The Lady Mustangs, one of the top teams in the region, attacked the Lady Panthers from the opening serve of the first set in varsity play. Loretto pulled away early in the first set and never let up as the Lady Panthers fell behind and dropped the first set by a score of 25-6. After a break, Loretto picked up where they left off, again pulling away from the Lady Panthers and building a huge lead on their way to taking the second set again 25-6. The Lady Panthers were unable to mount any resistance in the third and final set, as the Lady Mustangs closed them out with a 25-8 win in the final set and take the match 3-0. Cabry Hill had11 hits, 4 digs, and an ace, Madasyn Durham 8 hits and 6 digs, Serenity Warman 8 hits, Keira Halbrooks 6 hits and 1 kill, Aly Stutts 4 hits, Mya Siever 2 hits, and Isabel Greve 3 digs, a hit, and an ace.

LC vs. Loretto

In a quick turnaround, the Lewis County Lady Panthers hosted the Loretto Mustangs on Friday, September 24th, one day after their first matchup that saw Loretto take the match in straight sets.

Loretto matched the intensity they brought in the first matchup, as they wasted little time jumping out in front of Lewis County in the opening set of the varsity matchup. The Lady Panthers struggled from the opening serve to match the firepower of the Lady Mustangs, as Loretto pulled away to a 25-6 win in the first frame. After a brief break in the action, the Lady Mustangs kept the momentum into the second set. Again, using point runs to put distance between them and the Lady Panthers, the Lady Mustangs built up a double-digit lead and cruised to another 25-6 set win in the second set of the match. In the third and final set the Lady Panthers were able to rally and keep the score close, but once again the was the strong Lady Mustang team that was able to seal the third set win 25-14 and take the match 3-0. Madasyn Durham had 9 hits, 7 digs, and an ace, Cabry Hill 7 hits, 6 digs, and a kill, Aly Stutts 6 hits and 3 digs, Serenity Warman 5 hits and 4 digs, Keira Halbrooks 5 hits and 2 kills, Presly Hill 2 hits and 4 digs, Reese Duncan 2 hits and an ace, and Jayden Moore 1 dig.

LC vs. Hampshire

The Lewis County Lady Panthers volleyball team travelled to Hampshire on Monday, September 27th to face the Lady Hawks in varsity and junior varsity matchups.

In the opening set of the varsity match, the Lady Panthers found themselves playing from behind early. The Lady Hawks took a lead and the Lady Panthers fought to stay in the set until Hampshire pulled the win 25-19. The Lady Panthers regrouped during the break in action and came out in the second set with energy. The two teams exchanged leads throughout the tight second set, and the Lady Panthers were able to inch in front to take the second set by a score of 25-21. Hampshire would come back in the third set and pressure Lewis County in another close set as the teams swapped leads before Hampshire inched in front to take a 25-23 win in the third.Facing elimination, the Lady Panthers would rebound again in the fourth, pushing the set to a 25-20 win and setting up a tie-breaking fifth set. The Lady Hawks took advantage of mistakes late and doubled-up Lewis County in the fifth and deciding set of the varsity match 14-7 to win the varsity match 3-2. Cabry Hill had 22 hits, 4 digs, 4 aces, and 2 kills, Madasyn Durham had 14 hits, 5 aces, and 6 digs, Keira Halbrooks 14 hits and 4 kills, Serenity Warman 9 hits, 1 kill, and 1 dig, Aly Stutts 8 aces, Mya Siever 2 hits and 3 digs, Isabel Greve 1 hit, 1 ace, and 2 digs, and Reese Duncan had 1 hit.

The Lady Panther junior varsity took the floor against the Lady Hawk junior varsity in a matchup prior to the varsity match. The Lady Panther JV played close with the Lady Hawk JV for the entire first set of the match. It was the Lewis County JV that took the opening set in a close 25-23 score. The Lady Hawk JV regrouped between sets and pulled away from the Lady Panther JV en route to a set win 25-14. In the third and final set of junior varsity action, the Lady Hawks were able to keep the Lady Panthers at bay and seal the win 15-12 and take the junior varsity match 2-1. Kerrigan Reeves had 4 hits, an ace, and a kill, Shay Kilpatrick had 4 hits, an ace, and a kill, Kailee Thomas had 3 hits and a kill, Keira Halbrooks had 2 hits and 3 kills, Maddie Crowell had 2 aces, and Allie Ray Carroll had a hit and 2 digs.
