One day at a time

Series: One day at a time | Story 26

Well it is a peaceful fall morning here in our little valley. It is raining, the wind is blowing, and the leaves are falling and it is cool.

The cats have had their breakfast and a bowl of good warm milk and are back in their bed. I warmed their blanket and now they are snuggled down for a nice nap.

I’m having my second cup of coffee and really enjoying this morning. This morning I had the gas fireplace on for a few minutes, just enough to get the nights chill out of the house, but we have got the old wood heating stove ready to build a fire in it. The days are still a little too warm for a fire, but it won’t be long now! Once it turns cold then it will probably stay cold for a while.

I have been thinking about Thanksgiving and planning my meal out and getting everything ready, and of course I have also been thinking about Christmas time, it is almost here! I always try to decorate for Christmas early. We will start decorating for Christmas next week and try to have most of it done by Thanksgiving Day - that way I can have longer to enjoy Christmas time.

I am so ready for things to get back to normal, the last two years sure have not been normal. I believe the covid has really slowed down. Of course I know we usually have flu season starting around this time each year, but maybe this year it won’t be bad. Last year you rarely heard of anyone having the flu, they only talked about people having covid and later they said that the flu season wasn’t bad because everyone was taking precautions not to have covid.

We are still being careful about going out and being in crowds and we still wear our masks and use hand sanitizer. You know I have made a mask for each outfit I wear, they match really nice. With the mask I don’t have to wear as much makeup and no lipstick. See! We can be positive in everything if we try, remember that old saying there is a silver lining to every dark cloud.

I did some more major house cleaning, I am getting ready for winter, and we got some more windows washed. Next I am planning on trimming all of my rose bushes back for the winter. Then I will start putting up some Christmas trees and as some of you that know me, know I go a little crazy about Christmas decorating, but I sure do enjoy it. I put my Christmas music on and I don’t slow down. To me it is the best time of the year, the smell of wood smoke and a pot of cinnamon apple cider simmering on the old wood heating stove and some good Christmas music playing. Now doesn’t that sound cozy, are you all getting in the Christmas spirit yet? No, I haven’t forgot about what Christmas is all about but what better way to celebrate His birthday than decorate. We decorate for everything else, why not for Jesus?

Well I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

God Bless.
