As cooler weather draws near, the Sheriff's annual community assistance firewood program comes to mind.

Every year around this time, Lewis County Sheriff Dwayne Kilpatrick shows what his prisoners have done to help the community by sharing a little warmth. The inmates have worked hard to collect, cut, and split wood that is ready to be picked up, free to those in need. "It is just a small way we can help," says the Sheriff. "It gets the prisoners out of the cells and lockups during the summer months to cut the logs and give them a little exercise." It is a great community orientated progra...
